Pepe Garcia on Shaping Artistic Vision: A Journey in Music Curation | Apply Now for 2025!

Pepe Garcia is a percussionist at the Royal Conservatoire and Ensemble Academy in The Hague, New European Ensemble, ensemble SeaSession, Musicians Without Borders, stichting Sonoro.

Pepe is a participant at Curatorial Practices in Music: Defining Your Vision 2023 and Curatorial Leadership and Management 2024.

"I wanted to meet new people, to face new challenges, to hear different perspectives, different ideas, different points of view. I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and I also had a very personal reason: that I really wanted to start finding and shaping my own artistic vision. I wanted to get confronted by all these fresh inputs and ideas but mainly by my own limitations. And believe me, when you start this course, boom, that's what you get right from the beginning. This course can be a life changing experience for some people as it was for me.

You get equipped with a set of skills and tools in music curating, but you also get to see the diversity and different faces of a curator. For me, the highlight of this course was the guest speaker sessions that we had: from programmers of festivals or different venues, from classical, pop or more contemporary music to artistic directors of ensembles or orchestras or artists that are doing more social or community work."
