President Franklin Delano Roosevelt remains the only United States President to ever be inducted as a member of the Order of the Arrow. FDR was a longtime supporter of the Scouting movement, and his work to secure a permanent campground that could accommodate the tens of thousands of Boy Scouts in the greater metropolitan New York and surrounding areas led to the opening of Ten Mile River Scout Camp. In 1930, in recognition of Roosevelt's dedication to Scouting, the BSA awarded the then Governor of New York the Silver Buffalo Award.
