Microsoft Project 2013, 2016 and 2019 use Manually Scheduled Tasks as a default when you first install Project.
This is inappropriate for good project management - a project manager uses the software primarily to manage the schedule, not the project, and without automatic scheduling there can be no meaningful estimate of duration.
