So I was taking the garbage out, and I remembered that the can in the garage was full. I used the fingerprint keypad to open the door. About halfway open, the cable snapped and flew outside missing me by about an inch... (Phew!) But the door went cockeyed, and then proceeded to fall down to where it was in the video-that's how the track got bent up. Upon further inspection, the top and intermediate sections were badly bent (Kind of hard to see on camera) but my dad decided he didn't want to try to shine a piece of shit, so we're replacing it. (YAY!!!) Since we're not using the garage right now, and to save me from freezing my ass off, we've decided to wait until springtime to replace it. Like I said, it could've been fixed, but my dad found the install date on the side of the top section - 1978. He and I both thought it has served it's time well here. Hopefully I will get a video/slideshow of the replacement. Oh yeah, I went out there a few days ago and messed with the 3850, it's fine. I just had to pop off the belt and re-position it on the sprocket. No visible damage to the belt or the opener. I got pretty lucky there. :-)
