Casper the Friendly Ghost, also known as Casper McFadden or simply Casper, is the titular main character in the "Casper the Friendly Ghost" franchise, appearing from the very first animated adaptation in 1945 until its final iteration in 2025, which is a 4K remastering and theatrical release of the 1995 eponymous movie, as well as in other animated and live productions both as the central protagonist and a guest character. From the beginning, he was depicted as the only friendly ghost among many, who were mainly interested in scaring people, while he not only disliked this activity but also wanted to actually find friends among the living beings, making him a pariah and an outcast in the world of the ghosts. In later portrayals his role became more multifaceted, involving him in many other ways other than simply looking for friends, specifically depicting him as a hero who uses his powers to help others and also to fight against evil forces, making him a more relatable and interesting individual as a result, as well as a much beloved and well-known character.
