How a TV show reinvented science fiction

The Expanse set a new standard for science fiction when it premiered in 2015. Things had always been a variant of Star Trek or Star Wars: artificial gravity, faster than light travel, and space wizards :) But The Expanse dared to do things differently, building a fictional world based on the constraints of real science… and in doing so, made magic and redefined how outer space could be portrayed on TV. So here’s my thoughts on how The Expanse got space right.
