Why they joined the akatsuki:
Itachi: joined the Akatsuki to make sure Obito kept his promise to not hurt sauske. Also to spy for the hidden leaf. He would report to Hiruzen.
Obito: so he could collect all the tailed beasts
nagato and Konan: for the sake of peace.
Deidara: he wanted to beat Itachi also he like violence.
Hidan: for religious purposes
Kakuzu: for money
Sasori: he wanted to be remembered even after he died.
Kisame: wanted to expose lies and corruption
