Islam informs us that God has sent between 124,000 - 244,000 prophets to humanity over the period of human existence. The Qur'an only mentions the stories of 25 of those. So what about the other thousands? Is it possible that the historical figures we come to hear of today (such as Buddha, Beowulf, Confucius) were infact once prophets of God? Is it possible, like Jesus, that their original message of pure tawheed (oneness of God) was corrupted and changed over the years?
