John Singer Sargent is an alien - Wednesday, Week 77 (08/09/2021)

It is believed that right before Sargent started a painting he would say, "“You Ever Danced With the Devil in the Pale Moonlight?” and then he would proceed to paint the hell out of a pearl necklace. Maybe I'm misremembering. What is undebatable is that the same deal that Paganini struck with some hellish spawn to play the violin, was struck by Sargent to paint the way he did. It is the ONLY explanation! Today we paint an infernal Sargent with a couple of earth reds and two accents of magenta. I think it helped that I used an Ouija board as my palette (I don't think I can fit any more devilish references so I'm going to stop here)
