🇦🇹 New Year’s in Vienna - 30 Dec-2025 - 2 Jan 2026 🇦🇹

After battling some intense winter weather that made the trip an adventure from the start, we arrived Vienna to celebrate the festive celebrations of the new year! Once we arrived, the travel stress melted away — Vienna in winter is truly magical.

The Hilton Vienna Waterfront, a beautiful hotel right along the Danube, became our cozy home base for exploring the city. As New Year’s Eve came, we enjoyed an amazing dinner at the Boxwood Steak restaurant, where we enjoyed a delicious meal and relaxed before heading out into the night. After dinner, we wandered the streets in/around St. Stephen’s Cathedral - the heart of Vienna's New Years celebrations. The energy around the cathedral was incredible — crowds, music, and a real feeling of celebration everywhere you looked. It was an unforgettable way to ring in the new year.

On New Year’s Day, we took it easy and headed to one of Vienna’s charming Prater Wintermarkt situated next to the worlds oldest Ferris Wheel (Riesenrad). We sipped hot punch and classic Glühwein, wandered among the stalls, and soaked in the cozy, festive atmosphere that makes Austria so special in winter.

After a few memorable days, we headed home, already thinking about our next winter escape.
