Quiet village...
It was 1959, and Martin Denny, a musician from the new state of Hawaii, created an exciting hypnotic soundscape. It featured percussion, wild bird calls and lush instrumentals that would become known as EXOTICA. Quiet Village, was one of the first LP’s in full stereophonic splendor, and this exotica phenomena swept across America, taking its listeners on an enchanting musical journey. It also inspired restaurants and tiki themed bars with a décor of flaming torches, rattan furniture, flower leis, and exotic alcoholic beverages. If you couldn't get to paradise, paradise would come to you. 🌴 I loved it as a kid. Later, as an adult performing at the Moana Hotel in Waikiki, I was thrilled to actually meet Martin Denny.
