Volkswagen Vento Complete Mechanical Restoration

We had this 2014 Volkswagen Vento visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop for an annual service along with a concern relating that of a strange metallic sound being observed from the front side of the car especially while driving across uneven road surfaces, further there was also a grinding noise which could be heard while steering the car, along with a hard to engage clutch pedal. With the driving comfort of the car only deteriorating overtime and seeking a permanent fix to the above concerns, the car owner reached out to us for assistance.

Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, the steering rack and pinion gear had developed heavy play creating a strange grinding noise being observed while steering. Further, the tie rod end and ball joint were in bad shape, requiring replacement. The front shock absorber mounting was deformed and had an elevation of nearly an inch from the car’s body. The front shock absorber refill and kit were found weak, requiring replacement. The clutch set of the car was completely worn out, requiring immediate replacement. The flywheel had also developed burn marks, however since there were no severe cracks observed, the flywheel friction surface only required surface levelling.


*Symptoms of faulty steering rack:
Loose steering
Steering wheel vibration
Noise from the steering
Wheels don’t return to the center
Looseness in steering wheel

*Solution:
The wheels and front both shock absorbers were dismantled
Subframe was dismantled in order to access the steering rack
Old steering rack was repaired and reinstalled
The weak front shock absorber refill, kit & mount were all replaced with new VWAG genuine spare parts
The gearbox was dismantled and the old clutch set was removed
Flywheel was surface levelled and reinstalled along with the flywheel bearing
