The Hawkbirds covering the Ramones track, “Blitzkrieg Bop”

The song, written by Tommy and Dee Dee, was released on the 1976 album, 'Ramones'. Supposedly, the original title, "Animal Hop", was changed by Dee Dee, thereby highlighting the quick, yet explosive dance of “intense” speed. The song doesn't dive into deep political or social commentary, but it's very much about the spirit of rebellion and the adrenaline of living in the moment, which made it such a quintessential punk anthem. Tommy later explained that the lyrics of Blitzkrieg Bop refer to an audience of punk rockers waiting in line to attend a concert. This makes sense, as the famous chorus "Hey! Ho! Let's go!" reflects the unified energy to go out, have fun, and break free.

🧸 Brown Bear has always enjoyed Blitzkrieg Bop. The explosive energy taps into his stifled lack of restraint. While he sits calmly on the shelf, ready to detonate, he reminiscences about Sunflower and the family as they grow older around him. He will always remember this song, which he keeps as an audible journal, documenting the years as they pass. It may seem sad, but at the same time, the Ramones offer the burst of spirit that helps him escape his emotions. ⚡️🧸⚡️

We captured the audio on a Zoom H6 audio interface, and mixed it with GarageBand. Sennheiser HD-660S2 headphones, and an AudioEngine DAC3 amplifier, help to balance the sound in order to highlight each instrument during the mixing process. We struggle to get optimum sound as our studio is very small, and the drums are very loud. Thank you so much for all of your feedback which continues to help us produce better sound.
