Grayling Lake | High Uintas Wilderness, Utah

I'm not sure if we should call this a backpacking trip or a fishing trip.

This lake has been on the list of destinations for a while. Arctic Grayling are one of our favorite fish, both to catch and eat! Since there is a lake in the High Uintas Wilderness called Grayling Lake... well, we just had to see it and try our luck.

Reports vary on this lake with the Forest Service saying that there are no grayling in the lake, to local reports saying that there were good sized fish in there.

Grayling Lake is off of the Swift Creek trail and up a steep climb to get in there. This was a 3 day - 2 night adventure. We'd done the Swift Creek trail back in 2012 and walked right past the turn off to the lake. This time we would break away from the trail and make our way up to Grayling Lake.
