The Belagavi Ring Road is a major project designed to decongest city traffic and improve connectivity around Belagavi.

The project is planned in three phases, with Phase 1 covering 34.5km and a budget allocation of ₹1,622 crore.

The foundation stone for Phase 1 was laid in February 2024 by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

The ring road aims to benefit the region by diverting heavy vehicles away from city roads.

Land acquisition is nearly complete, with 90% of required land already acquired from local farmers.

The project is stalled due to a delay in securing clearance for 27.3 hectares of reserved forest land along the route.

The reserve forest sections are located in villages like Honaga, Kakati, Sonatti, Kanabargi, and Kalakhamb.

The issue has created both political and civic attention, with local leaders pressing for faster clearances.

Once completed, the Belagavi Ring Road is expected to greatly reduce city congestion and enhance regional economic activity.

The project is currently on hold until pending environmental and legal clearances are secured.
