Homemade stills such as this one are often called "moonshine stills." However, this distiller is primarily designed to distill water and essential. With the proper permits and safety precautions, it is capable of distilling high proof fuel alcohol and spirits such as moonshine. However, doing so is illegal without a federal fuel alcohol or distilled spirit plant permit as well as relevant state and local permits.
