At some point in owning either a l494 Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery, or any of the SDV6 / TDV6 3L twin turbo motors from Land Rover, you might experience the dreaded 'Restricted Performance' error or issue. But relax, we got you. This is how to troubleshoot the problem step by step, and gives all the steps required to swap or change out the intake manifold on the v6 Diesel motor the easy way.
MOST of the time it is a leaking intake manifold / split in the manifold. Or the throttle body butterfly sticking / not springing back to the open position. We have a look at both scenarios.
You might need an injector puller, or just make one like I show you how to do in the video.
You might also need TORX bits. OTHER THAN THAT, you just need normal tools that you probably already have in your garage / shed.
I really hope to help people solve this themselves rather than forking out thousands of $ to the dealership or LR specialist. (But you should support your LR specialist too!... :)
After you sort out the l494 intake leak, your code should clear. This isn't specific to just the l494 though, any of the 3.0 diesel v6 can produce the same error/warning on the dash and the process is very similar for all the models.
Good luck.
