This video demonstrates how the pole vaulter utilizes Sequential Motion and Task Specific Muscle Strength to defy the elastic energy in the pole more than defying gravity. Those movements may have an outcome of defying gravity, however it is the sequence of moves and the task specific muscle strength that transfers that muscle energy into the pole that sets up for the big defying gravity moment at the end of the vault.
If you want to pole vault higher learn to defy the elastic energy in the pole by focus your movements in sequence against the energy of the pole in line with the cord of the pole, and build the task specific muscle strength in each group of muscles that performs all the movements in those sequences.
