The Dean Forest Steam Railway is nestled in the lovely Forest of Dean, west of the Severn Estuary in England, near the Welsh border.

Today, with Kit, I have had the chance to visit at last. This is such a lovely railway, steeped in history and includes different features not often found on a heritage railway.

9681, a polished and shiny clean GWR Panier tank engine worked hard today, pulling a long rake of carriages. A restored set of DMU units was out running along the line as a Special Service today as well.
