2 Minute Guide | French Civilization Build Orders | Age of Empires 4

Here's an AoE4 guide to the French in under 2 minutes. Full build orders can also be found below in the description.

In this video, I go over some of the most common French openings with consistent build orders that will give you a strong start in most games. The French are one of the best civs in Age of Empires 4 right now. They can apply heavy pressure in the earlygame with their royal knights and transition easily into a powerful mid and lategame.

Build Orders:
1) 7 Villagers on Food
2) 1 Villagers to build house then mine next to Gold
3) 2 Villagers on Gold (Total 3)
4) 1 Villager on Food (Total 8)
5) 3 Villagers on Wood
6) Age up to Feudal with School of Cavalry (1 or 2 villagers from food and 1 or 2 villagers from gold)
7) Build 2 more houses (with a Gold or Wood villager)

Next step will depend on map/enemy civilization/scouting information:
Option A) Knight Rush: Build a stable and have at least 6 villagers on Gold and 13 on Food.
Option B) Knights and Archers: Build an archery range and have at least 6 villagers on Gold, 6 on Wood and 13 on Food. Can transition to this from Knight Rush (School of Cavalry with stables and archery range) or go for timing attack (School of Cavalry with archery range and almost constant production). Then build a blacksmit and research rams for your archers to build.
Option C) Fast Castle: Focus on defence with a villager Food to Gold ratio of 1:2. Reach castle age and build mangonels as soon as possible. Make sure to scout the opponent regularly to respond effectively.
