Unlike the crass, unqualified language of modern calvinists, the Reformed orthodox of yesteryear spoke about man's free will and God's providence with much more care and precision.
Neo-calvinists, like Justin Peters and James White, often speak in ways that would be considered reckless and borderline blasphemy by the Reformed theologians of the 16th/17th century, such as Francis Turretin.
In this video, I present the classical reformed understanding of free will and God's providence in sin: which affirms that man makes contingent, free choices, and yet God is the efficient cause of all actions without being the cause of sin.
Furthermore , I explain how a classical doctrine of God (i.e. Divine Simplicity, Classical Theism) necessitates that God be the efficient cause of all acts (and yet not of sin)
