I’ve just arrived in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and after four days of chilling it’s time to see the city centre. From Independence Square (closed off with police!) to Amir Timur Square, Hotel Uzbekistan, and the State Museum of History, I explore the highlights — and some of the frustrations — of the capital.
Tashkent is one of Central Asia’s biggest cities with over 4 million people, but is the centre worth visiting? Join me for my first impressions of Uzbekistan’s capital city.
