This project has haunted me for far too long. A little backstory…

I first picked up the piano about 16 years ago when I was down in the dumps after a bad breakup (in retrospect, it wasn’t that bad. But hey, teenager me didn’t know any better lol). With no musical knowledge or skill, I decided to learn Forever Rachel because the tragic romance between Locke & Rachel resonated with me. Of course, I didn’t know what I was signing up for since the Reborn version arranged by Michael Huang was way beyond a beginner’s skill level. Still, I managed to learn most of the song but could never get through the 16th and 32nd notes. I gave up and said “good enough, it doesn’t need to be perfect”.

Throughout the years, I’d come back to the song here and there, but still could not hit the bars containing the 32nd notes to satisfaction. It’s always eaten away at me that I could never play the song to my satisfaction. I decided it’s time to put an end to this. I think I’ve cracked away at these 32nd notes for 2 months straight now, over and over and over again. And i’m happy to say, I’m pretty satisfied with how it sounds. In fact, I’m elated I was able to finally play it the way I’ve always envisioned myself playing it.

Some things take a long time. This was definitely one of those things for me. Anyways, happy listening and I hope you enjoy!
