This video is general instruction how to repair plastic parts. In this case, I'm repaired a broken plastic clips from a cassette deck hatch cover plate. However, this instruction can be used to any kind of plastic repair jobs. Just figure out the shape of the part by studying the area it's supposed to be, measure it, model it, print it, glue it and you're done!
I also did some simple material testing to find most suitable material for this use. 3D-printable materials compared in this video were PLA / PETG / ABS.
I used 3D-printed plastic clip, which was glued to the place of the original broken clip. To increase stiffness, I melted small metal pins inside the plastic parts.
Device I'm working on, is Salora 6600 combined stereo device from the 80's.
Side note:
I'm a mechanical engineer, but what it comes to electronics, I'm mostly self-learned. Do not try to fix your electronic devices if you're not sure what you're doing. If you handle electrical devices carelessly, you may get electrical shock or cause malfunction to the device.
