In this video, I show you how to prepare an A/B/C nutrient combination for your Kratky setup. This allows you to replenish your Kratky system while minimizing the risk of toxic nutrient accumulation due to excessive addition of Calcium, Magnesium, or micronutrients.
The following quantities are for the preparation of 250mL of each solution. Note that the exact salts mentioned should be used. If using salts with different degrees of hydration or chemical composition, adjustments should be made. Monopotassium phosphate is present in both B and C solutions. All amounts are in grams.
A Calcium Nitrate (ag grade) 16.863
B Potassium Nitrate 11.782
B Monopotassium Phosphate 2.25
C Anhydrous Iron Sulfate 0.163
C Anhydrous Manganese Sulfate 0.069
C Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate 0.034
C Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate 0.005
C Boric Acid 0.072
C Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate 12.677
C Sodium Molybdate Dihydrate 0.003
C Disodium EDTA 0.725
C Monopotassium Phosphate 2.25
The solutions are 1:100. This means that you need to use 10mL A + 10mL B + 10mL C for the preparation of each liter of the initial Kratky solution. When replenishing with B solution, replenish at 10mL/L of added solution. When replenishing with A/B/C, use 10mL/L of each.
