Tulen sytyttäminen tuluksilla - How to light fire with flint and steel

Jos olet milloinkaan pohtinut miten tulen saa sytytettyä perinteisesti tuluksilla, niin tästä videosta opit miten homma hoituu.

Tulen sytyttämiseen tarvitaan karkku (eli teräksinen lyöntirauta), piikiveä ja lunttua tai taulaa. Lunttu on hiillytettyä kangasta ja taula on tietyntyyppinen kääpä. Iskemällä karkulla piikiven reunaan, irtoaa teräksestä pieniä palasia, jotka syttyvät palamaan kitkasta. Kipinän osuessa lunttuun alkaa lunttu kytemään. Kytevän luntun päälle kasataan pientä, kuivaa sytykettä ja puhalletaan tuli eloon.

If you have ever wondered how to light fire using flint and firesteel this video is for you.

You need a fire steel (bit of steel to trike the flint with), a piece of flint stone and some charcloth or tinder fungus (also called Amadou). Charcloth is regular cloth charred and tinder fungus is a special type of fungus that grows on the side of birches for example. When you strike the flint stone with your firesteel small bits of steel will come off and catch fire due to friction. When one of these sparks lands on the charcloth the charcloth will ignite. Then you just add some dry tinder around the charcloth and start blowing gently. The fire catches on to the tinder and you have fire!
