Old Patterns That Follow You Into New Seasons
Sometimes the resistance you feel in a new season has nothing to do with the moment you’re in.
It’s connected to old expectations, old pressures, and old roles you carried long before today.
Patterns don’t repeat because you failed.
They repeat because your mind is checking to see if you’re safe.
A tone.
A request.
A correction.
A familiar moment.
Anything that resembles an old experience can activate a reaction that belongs to a different season of your life.
I still notice this in my leadership.
Moments where I feel the urge to fix things, the pressure to get everything right, or the old story that capability means doing it alone.
Those reactions aren’t about my current reality.
They’re echoes from a time when those responses were necessary.
Awareness doesn’t make the pattern disappear, but it stops it from leading.
When you can separate the past from the present, everything becomes clearer.
