This video shows you the metalwork process of setting a core on a leftover ring from my previous triple-ring project. I’m still an amateur at metalworking, and to be honest, even I don’t fully understand why the core setting succeeded this time. I’m working half in doubt, but also enjoying every moment of it.
I hadn’t done core making for a while, so this served as good practice. Positioning the ring and the core is the hardest part, and the stand with three clamps is tricky to use. It took a long time, but I managed to complete the core in the end. I won’t be using large pearls on this ring—just small ones, maybe even tiny keshi.
Today was the only day this week I could work with pearls. It was already 23:40 in Kobe, and I had to head back to Osaka. I enjoy these quiet, repetitive tasks, even if I’m not good at them. Moments like these make me happy.
