In this video, we will rank and explore Gina Lollobrigida's 10 greatest movies. Not all stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood were from the United States. In fact, not all stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood were even from neighboring English speaking countries like Canada or The United Kingdom. No, some came from more exotic European locales such as Italy, with this being exactly where Gina Lollobrigida originated. And it was there she first got her break in movies with early breakout hits like Pagliacci, Mad About Opera, and My Beautiful Daughter.

Of course, as time went on though, Gina Lollobrigida would branch out into working in other countries such as France and the UK, the places she made Cinema Paradiso, Woman of Straw, and Imperial Venus. And after that, she’d even venture over to the bright lights of Hollywood itself as she made appearances in American produced hits like Strange Bedfellows, Come September, TV’s The Love Boat, and Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell, the latter of which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

That said, it always remained her native Italy in which Gina Lollobrigida did most of her work And this makes her somewhat unique for the era as she never felt the need to move to Hollywood on a permanent basis. So devoted was she to her homeland in fact, in 1999 after starting a whole new second career as a photojournalist, she’d run for a seat in the Italian senate. And while she wouldn’t win this seat, her attempt only further proved how committed she was to her country.
