The saline suppression test can be used to detect a certain functional disorder of the adrenal cortex, namely an overproduction of the hormone aldosterone. Increased aldosterone production can lead to, for example, increased blood pressure, low potassium levels or intermittent weakness. In the explanatory video, important aspects for the procedure and the course of the examination are described in detail.
