I bought this 1984 KLR600 as a project and have always had a tough time starting it. The motor does need work so I attributed the hard starting to that. Once I had the valve cover off I could learn where the engine is in it's rotation based on the valvetrain. I realized that I was kick starting in the wrong part of the engine cycle. Now I'm kicking at the right time and it makes all the difference. Thanks for watching!
