Making Danielle's Work Dress | Ever After Costume

When my husband and I decided to go to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire this year, I knew I wanted to dress up. This felt like the perfect time to make an Ever After costume! Most 90s babies (and 80s babies) have a strong attachment to the Ever After movie (AKA Ever After: A Cinderella Story) with many costumers referring to it as a gateway into an interest in historical costuming. (Which makes sense after all. The costumes are stunning and were designed by Jenny Beavan who is one of my favorite costume designers!)

Anyway! The trouble was what dress do I make? Given that I had a limited budget that wouldn't ever allow for brocade or velvet, Danielle's Work Dress was the obvious choice. This dress is simpler than the other court-worthy gowns in the movie, but that doesn't mean it isn't lovely in its own right!
