Effluent Pump Diagnostics and Replacement

In this video I show you about what I did when I realized the sewage pump in my basement wasn't pumping any more. Rather than seeing water in the drain pan of the lowest fixture (the shower), I actually heard a "hum" that was unfamiliar. When I investigated, I realized this pump was trying to pump, but not pumping. Then after a minute of trying, it would stop. This was because the device had a thermal interlock and when it warmed up, it would shut off. But then, when it cooled down, the pump would hum again. I thought maybe there was some debris that was preventing the impeller from spinning, but it turned out that it was spinning freely, so the motor was shot. The video continues with my ordering parts online, having them delivered, then doing some PVC pipe and fittings glue ups, and reassembling a new pump in the old sump, and replacing the steel cover plate, with the associated bushings, on the sump. I mention that because it was a pain to get that back together, which is at the end of this long and boring video. So you can watch this and it might convince you to tackle your project, or maybe convince you to "call the man!"
