A look inside a once notorious site close to Exeter City Centre. Technically not an Abattoir as animals would already be deceased upon entering these premises. The rendering process would have used crushing, grinding and heat to convert animal carcasses into feed protein, bone meal & other products. Site closed in 2021 much to local residents relief after decades of complaints over smells and bulk transportations into the site through a residential area. Site still has a ridiculously horrific smell and the less that I touched here the better.
