My Last Breath ~ Auggie||Annie [Covert Affairs]

*PLEASE READ*

Warning: There ARE spoilers in my vid up through 1x07, "Communications Breakdown," but nothing too major.

This isn't my first "Covert Affairs" vid, but it is the first I've posted, and only because my awesome friend ~naughtbutpoetry encouraged me to do so. I was afraid this one was a little lackluster, but she told me to go for it, it was good. So -- here it is.

Sepia: Auggie's memories

STORYLINE: Auggie and Annie have been married just over three years. One day, not long before their anniversary, Annie is sent on a supposedly simple mission that does not go as planned. Auggie, who is sick, stays at home upon Annie's assistance and is not there to be the voice in her ear.

It isn't until Auggie receives a phone call that he realizes something is wrong - Annie is calling him to say goodbye, because she's dying and she knows she'll never be able to see or talk to him again. He's still on the phone with her when she slips away.

Auggie then throws himself into his work, not trying to forget Annie, but trying to ease the pain of her dying, and his guilt for not being there. He feels if he had been, perhaps she would still be alive. And the memories of their last face-to-face conversation - an argument - keeps flashing in his mind, and he can't forget that they parted on unhappy terms.

Eventually he starts wishing Annie was there, until one day he starts hearing her respond to his words, and they start having conversations. He apologizes for the harsh words he spoke to her that final morning they had together, and he becomes so consumed by his hallucinatory Annie that he almost believes she's come back to him.

But there's still that part of him that knows it's not true, and as he keeps returning to a cold and empty loft at night, he desperately tries to hang on to his memories, and his sanity...

I may eventually write a companion fic to this vid, though I haven't decided for sure yet. If I do, I'll post a link to it here in the description. :) Thanks for watching my first A/A vid, and I hope you enjoyed it!
