Metro Boomin, born Leland Tyler Wayne on September 16, 1993, in St. Louis, Missouri, is a highly influential American record producer renowned for his dark production style that has significantly impacted modern hip-hop and trap music. He began making beats at the age of 13 after receiving a laptop from his mother and acquiring a copy of FruityLoops, a music production software. His early interest in music saw him producing five beats a day during high school, leveraging social media platforms to network with established artists.
Metro Boomin's career took off during his high school years, leading him to collaborate with notable artists such as Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane, Future, 21 Savage, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, and many others. Notably, he has worked extensively with Future, starting from their collaboration on the song "Hard" and continuing with numerous records, including two singles from Future's second album, "Honest".
In 2016, Metro Boomin's production prowess earned him the title of Producer of the Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards, further cementing his status in the industry. He has been behind hits such as "Jumpman" by Future and Drake, "Bad and Boujee" by Migos featuring Lil Uzi Vert, "Low Life" by Future featuring The Weeknd, and "X" by 21 Savage featuring Future, among others.
