Daniel Roden is a student of Philosophy, Politics and Economics and is the current leader of SSDP UWA. Through his work with students and young activists, Daniel aims to help build the drug reform movement into a cohesive and informed community, capable of creating political and cultural change. Daniel is presenting on the history of cannabis stigma. Focusing on the beginnings of prohibition in a series of early 20th-century moral panics, fuelled by culture wars and racially charged propaganda campaigns.
This talk was part of The Perth Cannabis Conference 17-10-2021 which was a collaboration between APS and SSDP featuring a broad range of speakers discussing topics around cannabis in both social studies, science and politics. The conference explores the path of cannabis from an icon of cultural hysteria to today's cutting edge pharmacology and the evolving political debates around this plant
