These are members of a group called *People's Like Us*, made up mostly of elderly persons, widows, and orphans who, for many years, have been fighting for their land rights—struggles in which some were injured and others even lost their lives.
After a long period of appealing to the government, their cries have finally been heard. Governor Guyo’s administration has written to the Ministry of Lands requesting that they be issued with title deeds. The process, which will cost more than one million shillings, will be overseen and fully facilitated by the county government.
Here, they are receiving the letter during an event led by Hassan Okicha, who coordinates security matters between the Governor’s Office and the Isiolo County Commissioner’s Office.
The members, led by their leaders Hussein Mohamed and Halima Osman, thanked the Isiolo County Government for listening to their plea, saying they can now live in peace. They also pledged to support Governor Guyo in his second term.
