Using models that he had made, Alistair Feltham describes the development of British aviation ships from 1914 to the present day. This includes seaplane carriers, aircraft carriers and helicopter carriers, the latter for amphibious operations. He explains that despite leading the world in the use of maritime aircraft in 1918, due to unfortunate political decisions, by 1939, Britain had fallen behind both the USA and Japan. By the end of WW2 Britain was second to the USA in maritime aviation capabilities only to fall behind again until the commissioning of the two large Queen Elizabeth carriers in the 2ist Century. This presentation was given to the Society of Model Shipwrights at their Zoom meeting in June 2025.
