अरावली पर्वत श्रृंखला को लेकर इतना बवाल क्यों मचा हुआ है ये समझने की ज़रूरत है। पब्लिक ये समझ नहीं पा रही कि ऐसा क्या है अरावली की पहाड़ियों में कि ये रेगिस्तान को फैलने से रोकती हैं? ये जो पहाड़ियां हैं ये देखने में तो बड़े पहाड़ों जैसी लगती भी नहीं हैं लेकिन असल में ये भारत की सबसे पुरानी पर्वत श्रृंखलाओं में एक है। ये गुजरात से शुरू होकर राजस्थान, हरियाणा और दिल्ली तक फैली हुई है। इस शृंखला की कुल लंबाई लगभग 700 किलोमीटर है। मतलब जैस हिमालय तो भारत की पूरी उत्तरी सीमा के साथ-साथ चलते हैं भारत में जम्मू-कश्मीर और लद्दाख से लेकर हिमाचल उत्तराखंड से होते हुए नेपाल सिक्किम भूटान से आगे उत्तर पूर्व में अरुणाचल तक सारा हिमालय है यानी एक तरह से ये तिब्बत के दक्षिणी बॉर्डर के रूप में काम करता है। हिमालय क्रॉस करते ही तिब्बत आ जाता है। इसी तरह ये अरावली की शृंखला पश्चिम में गुजरात से शुरू होती है दिल्ली तक। और इन पहाड़ियों के पश्चिम में रेगिस्तान है थार का और इस तरफ़ यानी पहाड़ों के पूर्व में हरा-भरा उत्तर भारत का इलाक़ा है। यानी ये एक लंबी दीवार की तरह है जो पश्चिम से उत्तर की ओर फैली हुई है। ये पहाड़ियां बहुत ऊंची नहीं हैं, लेकिन बहुत मजबूत और पुरानी हैं। और ये पहाड़ियां अपने आप में हरी-भरी हैं, पेड़-पौधों से भरी हुई हैं, और कई जानवरों का घर हैं। अलवर के पास सरिस्का के जंगल जो हैं वो भी इन्हीं पहाड़ियों में हैं जहां बाघ भी पाए जाते हैं। जबकि रेगिस्तान वो जगह होती है जहां बहुत कम पानी बरसता है, ज़मीन सूखी और रेतीली होती है, और पेड़-पौधे बहुत कम उगते हैं।

It's important to understand why there's so much uproar about the Aravalli mountain range. The public can't seem to grasp what it is about the Aravalli Hills that prevents the desert from spreading. These hills don't look like large mountains, but they are actually one of India's oldest mountain ranges. They originate in Gujarat and extend across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi. The total length of this range is approximately 700 kilometers. This means that the Himalayas run along India's entire northern border, from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to Himachal, Uttarakhand, Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, and beyond to Arunachal Pradesh in the northeast. In essence, it serves as Tibet's southern border. Crossing the Himalayas leads to Tibet. Similarly, the Aravalli range stretches from Gujarat in the west to Delhi. To the west of these hills lies the Thar Desert, while to the east, the lush green North Indian region lies. It's like a long wall stretching from west to north. These hills aren't very high, but they're incredibly strong and ancient. The hills themselves are lush, full of trees and plants, and home to many animals. The Sariska forests near Alwar are also located in these hills, where tigers are found. A desert, on the other hand, is a place where rainfall is minimal, the land is dry and sandy, and vegetation rarely grows.
