I take a closer look at some of the valley’s hidden cultural treasures—the age-old Hiti water system - a marvel of sustainable design still quenching the city’s thirst; learn about Kumari tradition; the mesmerizing world of Paubha paintings, created with devotion and detail by Newar artists; and those little things that make Kathmandu feel alive: hidden courtyards, local street corners, and spontaneous moments of connection with people who generously shared their time and stories with me.
