Clay Slip For Our Off-Grid Straw Bale House AND 24 TONS of Help From a Friend!

As we near the completion of the first coat of earthen plaster on our #offgrid #strawbalehouse, other projects can not be put off any longer. With the 2021 #Monsoon season upon us, me must get this last piece of the flood protection puzzle completed.

I asked our friend Derek "#Handeeman" Howlett to help us grade out 24 tons of AB Mix for our driveway apron. The plan is to raise the level of the driveway above the road to help prevent water from entering our property during heavy rains. I had planned on raising the level about 6-8 inches, but the 24 tons of material allowed us to raise it almost a full 12 inches above the level of the road! That means waters less than 12 inches deep will stay on the road and not run down our driveway.
