My parents were driving home to Batangas City from Manila one night when they were stopped by some soldiers at a makeshift checkpoint. After looking at the soldiers closely, they realized something wasn't right. The NPA were at the height of their popularity and strength at this time, and my parents were convinced that these soldiers were part of that dangerous group. And now they were in great danger.
