READ THIS BEFORE WATCHING this is a class so there are some mistakes. If you are not our student, do what your teacher says not what you see here. Omotesenke-ryu [表千家流] tea class [virus tea] September 12, 2020. For our students we are videoing our class so they can have some tea experience during the emergency. Since there is just the two of us there are some limitations on what we can do.
This video shows the procedures when during the second seating at a chaji the guests have brought flowers so the host asks the guest to arrange them. This is followed by thick tea. This is done in this case while using a Takedaisu with the furo in the center.
The Takedaisu is said to have originated with Murata Juko who is said to have originated the Japanese tea ceremony. The placing of the furo in the center was started by Joshinsai the Omotesenke 7th Iemoto. As usual for practice we use the plain white bamboo tea whisk. We must save the smoked bamboo for special occasions.
As usual, questions, corrections and comments are encouraged.
