Hello everyone. Today's video is a bit of a surprise, as I finally got around to uploading footage from my railfanning trip to Fort Madison, Iowa, from last October. Due to technical issues with my main camera on this day of railfanning, I had to use my IPhone to record the action here in Fort Madison. Until recently, I was unable to properly download the footage from my phone onto my computer in order to make a full compilation, but thanks to recent updates, that is no longer an issue.
This day in Fort Madison was a bit of an odd one. Though busy throughout much of the day, there was no Amtrak due to issues on Raton Pass out in Colorado. Last October, the Southwest Chief experienced significant delays over Raton Pass to the point that this day's westbound Southwest Chief was outright cancelled and this day's eastbound Southwest Chief no-showed. A real shame since Amtrak is one of the daily highlights here in Fort Madison, but nevertheless it was still a great day in terms of action. The BNSF Southern Transcon showed featured its usual plethora of Z-trains, the handful of daytime manifests, and best of all, the K-Line that parallels the Southern Transcon at the station featured a Dash-9 Warbonnet Duo on the evening local with a rare Burlington Northern Boxcar. All around, it was a great day of railfanning in Fort Madison, and I apologize for not uploading sooner due to technical difficulties.
I hope you enjoy this mass compilation of BNSF railfanning action on the Southern Transcon. As always, thanks for watching!
