OTIS GeN2 Elevator - The Whiteaways Arcade, George Town, MY

A typical China made OTIS GeN2 elevator at a historic double storey arcade building from the early 1900s. Installation year is estimated to be late 2000s or very early 2010s as online sources state renovation and restoration works in the building were completed by 2011, but whether there was an older elevator in here or not is unknown. This is the only elevator in the building.

Being a GeN2 manufactured in China, it shares some similarities with the OTIS 3200 and other Chinese OTIS models from the 2000s such as the "Mitsubishi-like" chimes and fixtures (albeit with concave buttons instead). Interior is very basic for a colonial era building though. It also has an extra button panel for wheelchair user inside which is quite uncommon in GeN2 elevators from the same era. Inspection certificate states the manufacturer as China Tianjin Otis.
