Spain 2025 OH! No! in Mijas , Sorry 😱 , Colomares Castle ❤️

We left Caminito del Rey and headed back towards the coast. Agnieszka found this castle, a monument to Christopher Columbus, and I’m so glad she did—it was such an interesting place. It was a hot day, but I loved every minute. We found a free spot to park at the top of the town, a piece of land used by other large vehicles, fenced off with wire. It was just a short walk down a winding road to the castle. After spending the morning there, we decided to head down along the coast to Gibraltar. We had the idea to pop into Mijas for a quick walk around since others had said how lovely it was. We found the motorhome/large vehicle park just outside the town at the top of a hill behind it. It looked perfect, but when we got there, it was closed for some reason. Since we only planned to stay a few hours, maybe for lunch, we thought, "Let’s pop into town and find a short-stay car park." No way! It’s a cozy old town, beautiful but not made for traffic, especially 7-meter motorhomes. I’m sure you know that feeling when you realize you shouldn’t be where you’ve ended up—"Beam me up, Scotty!" I was so relieved to get out. We plan to return one day, park outside the town, and, if needed, bike in. So, we made an early start on the road to the Rock of Gibraltar, which turned out to be great since it gave us more time to explore. So far, it was the best and most interesting place we had visited.
