A test drive of just the drones with the adjustable bass drone puck aperture that I designed and built. I plan to keep playing around with the design, the 'next gen' will have an even larger aperture that can effectively open large enough to simulate not having a front plate on the puck at all.
The changes in tone and slightly in pitch are audible from the driver's seat while I'm playing, and what you can't quite hear in the video is the actual sound of the reed buzzing in the stock changes slightly as well (mine is a solid stock, not a hollow stock).
When I'm testing it with all 3 drones going in this vid, I was having difficulties keeping everything stable and twisting the aperture at the same time, so some of the strange treble fluctuations you may hear from the tenor drone coughing if I starve it for air. Again, the next incarnation of this will have a different adjustment mechanism so it will be easier to adjust on the fly.
Again, this concept was conceived and built by myself, Spencer Hamann, 10/26/13.
