The new DS 7, once part of Citroën, the French automotive group decided a few years ago to turn it into a standalone premium brand.

The updated DS 7 now sports a sharp new look, featuring slimmer LED headlights and five distinctive vertical light strips at the corners of the front end—what DS refers to as a “light veil.”

At the rear, the refresh continues with narrower LED taillights, a redesigned tailgate, and new DS lettering replacing the previous Crossback badge. Fresh alloy wheel designs round out the exterior updates, giving the SUV a more planted and confident stance. Overall, the car now looks more refined—and, crucially, more premium.

DS has removed all petrol-only models from its lineup, leaving only diesel and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. The entry-level PHEV is front-wheel drive and pairs a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 109bhp electric motor. The mid-range and range-topping versions add a second, 110bhp electric motor to deliver all-wheel drive capability.

All variants now come with a larger 14.2kWh battery, offering roughly 40 miles of pure-electric range. Charging takes around 1 hour 45 minutes using a 7kW wallbox, or about seven hours from a standard domestic socket.

Technology remains a highlight. Among the clever features is Active Scan Suspension, a camera-based damping system that continuously adjusts each wheel to smooth out road imperfections and enhance ride comfort. It performs best on moderately even surfaces, delivering a composed and supple drive.

Overall, the DS 7 is a well-crafted contender among premium SUVs. It looks the part, feels sophisticated, and drives with a calm assurance. Combined with its luxurious interior and distinctive French flair, it offers something genuinely different in a crowded segment.
