Billy (Kenneth Farrington) and Jasmine (Lucille Soong) are frustrated by the lack of privacy at the Rovers. Jack (Arthur Leslie) refuses to back Annie (Doris Speed) in her plan to split Billy and Jasmine up. Dickie (Nigel Humphreys) refuses to go to the cinema with Audrey (Gillian McCann) using tickets given to her by Robert Matthews (Michael Sheard). Gordon (Bill Kenwright) steps in to accompany Audrey. At the cinema, Hilda (Jean Alexander) spies on Gordon and Audrey, who playfully hug to wind Hilda up and spark gossip. Jack warns Annie that she is at risk of pushing Billy away. Upon Billy and Jasmine's return, Annie appears pleasant but suddenly collapses.
